Your bike must be well maintained and in good working order and a thorough service beforehand is recommended. You need to provide your own bikes and helmets and we would recommend a road bike or a hybrid bike. We avoid the busiest of roads for the most part but there will be fast-moving traffic in a couple of places. The biking is all on road and you need to be a confident rider. It will be a very long day, covering a lot of miles and ascent/descent. You will need a decent level of fitness and be prepared to put in plenty of training beforehand.

A grand finale befit for the hardest man or woman of Coniston! While you may not reach these speeds, you’ll be channelling your inner speed demon on a sprint across the water in open Canadian Canoes. Sir Malcolm Campbell broke the water speed record in 1939 on Coniston Water, at a wildly fast-paced, 141.74 miles/hour.

But, not to worry, after climbing for 3000+ feet of elevation gain, the summit provides an unrivalled view of the Lake District National Park’s finest fells Helvellyn, Scafell Pike, Blencathra and Skiddaw Little Man, just to name a few. You’ll be tasked with taking on a steep ascent to its summit. This Lakeland Fell at 803m above sea level dominates the skyline. The Old Man of Coniston is a formidable sight to behold.
